Snog - You'll Never Forget Your First Snog

I genuinely believe that the better things taste, the worse they probably are for you. Think of all great foods- Hot dogs/ Sushi/Fried chicken/ Actually, probably anything fried/ Ribs/Cakes/Cookies/Macaroni and Cheese/Cheese in general/Waffles/Fries/Burgers/Chorizo/Popcorn/Crackling/Cinnamon Whirls/ Alcohol/ Bacon/Foie Gras/ Crisps/Bread/Burritos/Pasta/ Curries/Muffins/ Icing/Kebabs/Paninis/ Risotto/Sausages and a whole host of other things. Obviously some things, few and far between, dont apply to these rules. Take Snog, for example.

I had always considered Frozen Yoghurt (or Fro-Yo as they call it in California) as ice cream for people who cant afford the calories ice cream has and really, where is the fun in that? Given 99% of what I eat is made up of the foods in the list above, I wasnt convinced Fro-Yo was for me. I mean, it really is good for you. Its low calorie, fat-free, filled with calcium and protein and active probiotic cultures, whatever those are.

L'atelier - Heaven

Im deliriously happy. I think I might be in heaven.  I've never felt so wholly satisfied after eating a meal. Rewind 5 hours.
I've heard a lot about L'atelier de Joel Robuchon. How could I not? The guy has about a zillion michelin stars and unlike the other oh-so-glamorous chefs,(ahem *Gordon Ramsey*) all of Mr Robuchon's restaurants, bar 1, have Stars. Thats 26 stars between 11 restaurants. Some achievement. Mr Robuchon has more star's than any other chef on the planet and his London restaurant is the proud holder of 2.

Zafferano - Not to be saved for last.

In an attempt to continue balancing out my restaurant reviews by eating at restaurants starting with letters in the last five letters of the alphabet. I headed to Zafferano. Zafferano is an obvious choice for people who love Italian food. It wears the one Michelin star badge, which puts it in a category with The River Cafe, Locanda Locatelli, Apsleys and Semplice, the last two I have never had the fortune to visit mainly due to not winning the lottery (Apsleys) and never really having heard about it until a couple of weeks ago (Semplice).

Terroirs

I'm clearly a little behind in terms of the London food scene, as when all of London's food bloggers and critics have hit the East End to check out Brawn, I have only just visited Terroirs the original wine bar of the two. Terroirs seems to get mixed reviews from most bloggers and to be honest I wasn't too excited about the prospect, but it ticked all of my boxes which are; a) easy to get a last minute table b) not on the otherside of town, (unlike Brawn) and c) starts with a letter at the end of the alphabet, (also unlike Brawn).

Midnite Cookies - Because its never too late for cookies

Midnite cookies is easily the best thing to hit the capital in a long time. It delivers freshly baked cookies to your front door, with free delivery if you are in a qualifying post code, up till 1am. They bake your cookie(s) to order and you can even create your own cookie mix. Genius, right? Their cookies are easily the best in London, especially if you are a fan of the soft and doughy thing. Its been going for just under a year now, and ever since it opened I have been regular customer online. This however, was the first time I visited the store, and I'm happy to say it was even better than their online service.

Cecconi's - One For Ciccone

I love Urban Spoon. It keeps life simple. Given the number of restaurants I try, and the number of restaurants I want to try, Urban Spoon keeps things organised. However, one of the unintended consequences of my Urban Spoon Wish List is its effect on my dining patterns due to its alphabetical nature. More than 50% of my reviews to date, are about restaurants starting with the letters B and C. I am not convinced so far that this is a new trend by restauranteurs who believe that proximity to the start of the alphabet will increase business (although, clearly it does in my case!) instead when I flick on to my wish list I see the restaurant at the top of the list and think, why not? In fact, I was forced to stop myself when trying to book dinner for tonight Bar Trattoria Semplice deciding instead to book Terroirs to buck the trend.I realised this today, which meant last week I ended up at Cecconi's, with The Boyfriend, to celebrate one year of dating.

Roka Canary Wharf - Third Time's A Charm

I've had bad experiences every time I've been to Roka. Nothing to do with the food, mind. Just for some reason every time I go it immediately triggers a crisis at The Boyfriend's work. The first time we went he was 2 hours late for dinner, which meant that I actually ate alone. The second time, I had to sit and watch him talk on, not one, but two conference calls at the same time, (a phone at each ear) throughout our lunch. Surprisingly, each time I stil enjoyed myself because the food is so good I don't think I would even have been capable of talking. I'm pretty sure anything could happen in the restaurant around me and I would still be a supremely happy bunny. Which is why I will jump at any chance to go. My only real problem with Roka, (bar the Bank world collapsing every time I go) is that its too popular for its own good. It takes at least a week to get a table, and inside they've tried to squeeze too many people in, which also has consequences on the service, which suffers as a result.

Cigalon - Perfect.

I had a good feeling about Cigalon before I went. Maybe it was because it had been getting perfect reviews. Maybe because the restaurant looked gorgeous. Maybe it was because it was within walking distance of my home. Maybe it was just meant to be.

Barbecoa - Iwouldntgoa

I booked Barbecoa at least a month before I went. I dont know if that is because its incredibly popular, I really doubt it given recent reviews, or if Opentable itself was trying to warn me. Oh, if only I had listened. The only good thing about Barbecoa was its location on top of New Change and therefore an excuse for me to hit the shops, without technically breaking my "I will not shop in January" resolution.

Bob Bob Ricard - A little bit too much

Logically, BBR should be my perfect restaurant. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the attention to detail outstanding. The layout and the booths make the place feel intimate and cosy but at same time the place seems lively. Even better its open all day so if you feel like having lunch at 4 because you woke up at midday - why not! It serves popcorn in boxes that match the plates and the menu, and the waiters dress in adorable outfits with the boys in pink blazers. And thats all before mentioning the now infamous Push For Champagne button next to every table. There really seems to be nothing that this place has failed to pay attention to except oddly, the food.
