Top 5... London Fashion Week Eats - Somerset House

In preparation for perhaps the funnest part of the year - London Fashion Week - and the only thing that makes February bearable, here are the best places to eat, watch the beautiful people and admire some very brave outfit choices..

Somerset House...

1) Fernandez and Wells
Distance from SH:  in flats  - 0 minutes, in heels - 0 minutes.
Food: Spanish influenced cakes, sandwiches, coffees and most importantly wine
The cost of... a pair of Primark flats
Time Required: 10 minutes
Calories Required: Many, thank the irresistible carbs, cheese and pork combos
About: A new and welcome addition to Somerset House will take most of the pressure off Tom's Kitchen and is completely perfect for a quick bite. It's surprisingly large - seating almost as many as Tom's kitchen although but whether the service will be able to keep up with the crowds will remain to be seen.

2) Tom's Kitchen
Distance from SH: in flats  - 0 minutes, in heels - 0 minutes
Food: Eclectic mix of European classics
The Cost of... One H&M top
Time Required:  > 1 hr
Calories Required: Dependent on whether you can resist their mac and cheese - but otherwise three salads available
About: The only restaurant in SH, Tom's Kitchen has a fairly broad menu, with something to offer most. Even better, their brunch menu is too die for.

3) The Delaunay
Distance from SH: in flats  - 3 minutes, in heels - 4 minutes
Food: British favourites with a European Coffee House edge and perfect for a glamorous breakfast
The cost of.. Half a Zara blazer

Time Required: 1hr (its hard to feel rushed in such a gorgeous setting) or with less time/money head to the deli next door
Calories Required? Skip the afternoon cake
About: The new Wolseley, could not be more perfectly positioned for Fashion Week. It is beautiful, it is elegant and it is old school. The service is impeccable, and the food prepared with a perfectionists eye - it's everything you could want from a British restaurant... It's hard not to love the imposing iron gates and the formal doorman.  If you need something less time consuming, their deli, just next door, serves a wide selection of sausages, daily changing roasts and of course, tea and cakes

4) Mishkin's
Distance from SH: in flats  - 4 minutes, in heels - 5 minutes
Food: Jewish Deli that serves pork
The cost of... Chanel Nail Varnish
Time Required: All dependent on how many other people decided to hit it up, luckily if the queue is too long Opera Tavern (below), is right next door.
Calories Required: Many, this is not food for the gym obsessed
About: Russell Norman restaurant that takes reservations. Jewish deli style food, chilled atmosphere and low costs. A pretty interesting option.

5) Opera Tavern
Distance from SH: in flats  - 4 minutes, in heels - 5 minutes.
Food: Spanish Tapas
The cost of... Chanel Nail Varnish
Time Required: All dependent on how many other people decided to hit it up, luckily if the queue is too long Mishkin's (above), is right next door.
Calories Required: Many, unless you can resist their cheese boards, wine or most importantly, mini pork burger with foie gras.
About: Spanish tapas bar and bookable restaurant upstairs, Opera Tavern has some really fabulous food, and wines. The mini burger is the best burger I've ever eaten.
